About

Joel S. Marcus is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., having led the formation, financing, development, personnel recruitment, and operations of the company since its inception in 1994. He served as Chief Executive Officer from 1997 to 2018 and was Vice Chairman from 1994 until his election as Chairman in 2007. Mr. Marcus has been instrumental in pioneering the life science real estate niche and developing Alexandria's unique Megacampus strategy.
